Our task for this project was to select a topic around which the average American may have some misconceptions, interview some people, and document their understanding of the topic. We decided to investigate individuals’ understanding of United States geography, and the location of several features. We also inquired as to the relative size and location of different states. First, we looked into the research and background surrounding the topic. Then, we drafted our interview questions. We then filmed several interviews of subjects of different ages and backgrounds, as well as conducted an online survey capturing some of the ideas. We used this information to form some conclusions on common misconceptions, understandings, and thoughts regarding U.S. geography. Attach you will find a link to the website and video we created.
